So guys, you also want to know how to stop Android phone from changing local IP address frequently, I understand that it is really very annoying when your Android phone keeps changing IP address specification when you are trying to do some work like remote accessing your phone or connecting to a smart device, I was wandering on the internet to find a perfect solution to fix my wife’s IP address, in this post I am going to show you how you can lock the local IP address of your phone so that it does not change every time, there are two ways to do this, one is to set a static IP on your Android phone and the other is to reserve an IP address, so if you ask me then you actually have the first man I told you to fix the IP address for your Android phone.
Method 1: Set a Static IP on Your Phone (Best for Home Networks)
Most Android phones allow you to set a static IP for a specific Wi-Fi network.
For Android:
- Go to
Settings
>Wi-Fi
- Long-press your Wi-Fi network and tap Modify network (or “Manage network settings”)
- Tap Advanced options > Change IP settings from DHCP to Static
- Enter a static IP address e.g
192.168.1.100
(Ensure it’s within your router’s range) - Set the Gateway (your router’s IP, usually
192.168.1.1
) - Set the DNS (Google’s DNS:
8.8.8.8
and8.8.4.4
) - Save settings and reconnect to the Wi-Fi
✅ Now your phone will always have the same IP when connected to this network.
Method 2: Reserve an IP Address in Your Router (Best for Stability)
If your router supports IP reservation, you can assign a permanent local IP to your phone’s MAC address.
Steps (Varies by Router):
- Log in to your router (Open a browser and enter
192.168.1.1
or192.168.0.1
) - Find “DHCP Reservation” or “Static IP Assignment” (Usually under LAN/DHCP settings).
- Find your phone’s MAC address (Settings > About Phone > Status)
- Assign an IP, e.g
192.168.1.50
- Save & Restart the router
✅ Your phone will now always get the same IP when connecting to Wi-Fi
